March Currently!

Saturday, March 1, 2014
Well February was FAST, huh?! So fast that I haven't blogged since last Currently......WHOOPS! ;)
It's now a new month and a new start that always begins with Farley's Currently! Here is my March Currently and a pledge to blog a little more this month!
Most of these are self explanatory, but here we go...
Listening to my husband watch the KSU game. He usually gets pretty fired up and is yelling at the TV every once in a while, but he's surprisingly pretty quiet tonight on such a close game! Haha! Maybe I'm speaking typing too soon! ;)

Loving a chance to relax...the weather is starting to get nasty with yet another snow storm moving in, so I'm glad we did our errands and went to church tonight! Now I can stay warm and cozy inside the rest of the weekend.

Thinking - #PFCG (Pray for Carly Gassman). I cannot stop thinking about a young woman in our community who is a freshman at K-State and is battling cancer. She has been fighting for almost 2 years and things just took a turn for the worse. She has been given only a few days to live and has been in and out of a coma the last few days. I BELIEVE in the power of prayer and if you do too, I would love for you to keep Carly and her family in your prayers. We are praying for a miracle and praying for strength for her family! I can't even imagine what they are going through. It's heartbreaking to see such a beautiful, kind, and strong girl go through something like this.

Conferences are this week for us and I'm wanting them to be over. There's a chance we may have a snow day on Monday and then that would put conferences back another week possibly. As much as I would love a snow day, I'm also ready to be done with conferences! :)

Needing internet back at school. We have been without internet for over a week and that's a big inconvenience especially when we need to get report cards done! It's amazing how much we rely on internet these days.

And....my answer to the mystery question is countertop, building, and fence! I bet that's not too hard to figure out! :)

Have a great week and stay warm!

February Currently!

Saturday, February 1, 2014
I am linking up again with Farley to start off February! Check out my Currently!

Listening to Pitch Perfect! LOVE the music in this movie! :)

Loving that I have a weekend off...and it was much needed!

Thinking about making some products today and hoping I'll keep the motivation to finish at least one!

Wanting a snow day this week because if we have to endure another big snow it better be worth it! Plus, our 100th day falls on a Thursday this year so if there is a snow day it will be on FRIDAY! That sounds much better!

Needing to get ready for our Super Bowl party! We throw one every year, but we weren't going to do it this year since the icky Broncos are playing! Haha! Then we were asked by friends if we were going to have one and we changed our minds last minute. It should be a fun, thrown together night! :)

2 Truths: I did go to college to be an interior designer and then switched to music education which finally led me back to elementary education. When I was little I always wanted to be a teacher and would play school ALL the time! Then in middle school I changed my vision to wanting to be either an architect or interior designer. Once I went to orientation I knew right away that interior design wasn't for me, so I decided to go into music which only lasted a semester. I still managed to graduate college in 3.5 years! Crazy, I know!
I also have over 100 cousins! That's what happens when your mom is one of 12 kids and your dad is one of 9 kids and I absolutely LOVE it! :)

1 Fib: I do not have a pet dog. In fact, we don't have any pets. I'm not a big animal/pet person even though my husband is. I grew up on a farm and the pets stayed outside! Haha! I think maybe someday I could do a little dog, but we shall wait and see!

Now it's your turn! Go link up with your Currently over at Farley's blog. Have a great weekend and fantastic February!

January Currently - Hello 2014!

Wednesday, January 1, 2014
Well hello 2014! Didn't you just sneak up on us?! I hope you all are enjoying your winter break and had a fun (and safe) New Year's! I'm linking up with Farley for the January Currently

Here we go!

Listening - love me some Law & Order SVU....the hubby doesn't like it so much, but it's one of those shows I grew up watching with my dad and I love it! Only SVU though...probably because of Olivia, she's awesome!

Loving - our new wall decor that we put up in our new house over the break! They added so much to our big blank walls. :)

In the middle of the clock, we are going to put up vinyl that says "TIME spent making memories is worth every SECOND!" So it's not complete yet. Since we don't have any kids yet, we decided to put pictures of places we have traveled together. It's sentimental to us and I'm sure it will change over the years, but we love it right now!

Thinking - (sorry to those of you that have to go back tomorrow) "I'm so glad I don't have to go back to work tomorrow!" --- We go back on Monday.  I'm not ready! Literally...the plans aren't done! I haven't gotten into that mode yet...you?! ;)

Wanting - I'm really wanting to finish my Common Core ELA Vocabulary Posters before I go back. They've been "in the works" for a while now and there have been some people who have bought my math posters that have asked for these. I'm working on it, I promise! Like any other break, I had high hopes to get some products finished and posted but it just hasn't happened yet! I still have a few more days right?!

Needing - I really need to get my plans done for school so it's off my plate and I will be ready instead of doing it last minute. Maybe that will happen tomorrow?!

Memory/Tradition - I love, love, LOVE family time at Christmas! We have so much fun together playing games, playing with the babies, eating yummy food, and catching up. It's the best!

Well, would you look at that! I just blogged THREE days in a row! WOW! Go me! Haha!!

Now it's your turn to link up your Currently and I hope you all have a FANTASTIC 2014!!!! It's going to be a GREAT year! :)

November Currently!

Saturday, November 2, 2013
Heloooo November! I don't know if I'm glad to see you yet or not! ;) The exciting part - the holidays are on the way and I LOVE that time of year! The sad part - the cold weather is on the way and I have a major DISLIKE of that part of the year! Anywho...no way of stopping it, so I better embrace it!

On to this month's Currently with Farley!

Listening - I love chilling on a Saturday morning and have CMT music on the TV in the background.

Loving - Weekends!! Sleeping in!!! I think that's self explanatory! :)

Thinking - What to create next? I feel like I've been in a slump or when I go to create something I can't get it done in time. Oh well, I guess it will give me a head start when I actually do have some major free time to finish it before next year's holiday! In the end, I think I just need to get my "creative drive" back and I'll be good!

Wanting - I just signed up for Donor's Choose and I really want to put in a request for some iPads to use in my classroom, but it's a little nerve-wracking just like anything you've never done before. I just keep telling myself that it never hurts to try! Let me know if you have any tips!!

Needing - I signed up to present at our district tech fair again this year. I didn't know what to choose for my topic, so I chatted with my principal and we came up with teaching how to start selling on TeachersPayTeachers. It's not until the beginning of December, but I need to start planning for it now so it's not constantly in the back of my mind. Wish me luck! I'm trying to get better at presenting because to be honest, it's really far out of my comfort zone. It doesn't make me nervous to teach a bunch of kindergarteners, but teaching a bunch of teachers is kind of intimidating!! Haha!

Yummy pin(s) - Okay, I know it's just supposed to be one, but I had to choose two (and that was hard)! Butterfinger puppy chow and Bowtie Chicken Alfredo. I've made both and they are both AMAZING!!! Click on the pictures to take you there!

A dessert....

 ...and a meal!

"Life's short, eat dessert first!" Right?! ;-)

One more thing....

Don't forget to enter my giveaway! It ends in just a couple days!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

August Currently

Sunday, August 4, 2013
I'm a few days late on my August Currently, but I had to get it up! I've been busy helping out with my school's enrollment so my kinder kids could sign up for their Kinder Screener, plus it's fair time right now! So much going on right before I have to go back to work this coming week.

Listening - It's kind of a dreary Sunday which is perfect for watching movies and cuddling up, so that's exactly what I'm doing!

Loving - I'm loving my new classroom setup! I think it will work out really well this year. I still have a lot of things to do and put up in my room, but here is a peek at the arrangement.

My hubby helped me put up my tree in a new spot this year! I love how it turned out!
Blurt Alert Chart....starting the year off with it this time.
New library spot!
I'm loving this new schedule I made! Much more appropriate for kinder with the pictures to accompany the words. Plus it's colorful chevron!!
Displaying my objectives here this year!
The math word wall will go to the right of the objectives on the white board.

New word wall letters I made!! Chevron, Dots, & Stripes on pink and green this year! I printed the words to go with them too that are in five different colors. I think they will be very nice because I can point out words much easier with the different colors under each letter.

Thinking - Even though I am excited to start a new year, it's never easy to leave summer break behind. I have ONE more day (Monday) before I go back to work. We have a week of professional development and work days before the kids start.

Wanting - This all leads to my next point....I'm wanting the sun to come out and for it to act more like summer before summer is over! It has been raining nonstop around here lately....seriously we've had about 15 inches of rain in the past 13 days (or something like that)! Crrrrazy!!!! It was awesome at first, but now that I'm down to my final days of summer, I would rather be enjoying the sun poolside instead! :)

Needing - Needing....oh, I hope by next month's currently I will be able to take this one off! We are still needing to sell our old house. :(  This will be the first month of double mortgage payments, so we are really hoping something will happen soon! We went over to the old house yesterday and got everything out that we still needed to move (for the most part) and we painted the laundry room downstairs so it didn't look too basement-y. Now it should be ready for a new owner....fingers crossed and still praying!!

B2S Must Haves -
1. Colorful Flair Pens - I LOVE these and of course anytime I can add a little color to something, it's a good thing!
 2. A school calendar to keep me organized! I created this one and it's a freebie to all of my Facebook fans! I just got it printed off and it looks great!
3. New school clothes!! I've stocked up on some cute dresses this summer for the school year that I'm really excited to wear! Gotta love back to school shopping!!!

Alright, your turn! (Maybe...if you're behind like me!) Go link up with Farley for August Currently!

July Currently & Let's Get Acquainted!

Sunday, June 30, 2013
Tomorrow is July already, can you believe it?! I can't, but I'm excited to have a whole month completely "off" or so to speak! I have a long list of things I'd like to make for the new school year and post on TpT and I'm sure I'll be getting my classroom ready again toward the end of July too! So I guess I wouldn't necessarily consider it a whole month "off" but I don't really have to be anywhere! We moved into a new house at the beginning of June and these last two weeks I've been taking a full day class for a lesson study grant I'm participating in, so I finally feel like I'm back on summer break! YAY!

Alright, let's get to this Currently for July with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade!

Listening: I've got my husband to my left on the couch working on his master's class, so besides the typing on the computer and the clock ticking, it is silent! It's kind of nice to wind down like this on a Sunday afternoon after getting home from church. :)

Loving: I love that I'm back on my summer schedule!! I'm definitely a night person, so I'm excited to be back on my summer schedule where I can pretty much do whatever I want, whenever I want. There's no alarm that has to wake me up and we can stay up late, hang out with friends/family, sit outside on the deck, and just chill! I love it!

Thinking: Speaking of that summer schedule, I think it's about time for our regular Sunday nap! :) I love a good Sunday nap, but I always hate it when I have somewhere I need to be early Monday morning because I can never get to sleep Sunday night! Haha!

Wanting: I would love to go on a vacation with my husband again this summer, but we are having a heck of a time selling our house! We already bought and live in a new house (which I LOVE btw), but it's stressful being an owner of two houses! I think once we sell our other house, we owe it to ourselves to just get away somewhere....anywhere! This leads me to the next one...

Needing: To sell our house!!!! Enough said! :)

Tips, Tricks, or Hints: My tip is for selling on TpT. I started selling back in November during my first year of teaching. I would just make things that I loved and knew I would use in my classroom! I had fun with it and lucky for me, many other people fell in love with my products too! It's a great feeling and I know that no matter what, nothing I make is for no good reason because I will make great use out of it! So don't be afraid to post something on TpT because you never know who will love your product just as much as you do! :)

Okay, switching gears just a bit! Latoya is BACK with her Let's Get Acquainted Party and I am linking up!

This week's topic is Tic-Tac-Toe! I am choosing diagonally left to right, top to bottom!

I went to college at Kansas State University! My favorite memories would have to be Thursday nights with my best friends. We were all a part of the college of education and became really close. During our last year at KSU, I was married and living in another town about 40 miles away so we would have sleep overs on Thursday nights since we didn't have class on Fridays! It was so much fun to have either a girls' night in or out and just stay up talking about everything in life! I miss seeing my girls every day, but I'm so happy I made such amazing friends and that we still stay in touch and are very close!

My favorite school memory as a kid....hmm, that is so tough to pick just one! When I think of elementary school, I think about one of my favorite teachers who taught me in 1st grade! She had a big bus in her room made out of wood where we could go read and play. She was very artistic and I remember making something special out of each letter as we learned it. For example, we made a zebra in the shape of a Z. She sparked so much creativity and imagination out of all of us and I hope that I can someday be at least half as good a teacher as she was!

Some of my favorite hobbies are to play volleyball and take pictures! I played volleyball, basketball, track, and softball growing up, but there's just something about volleyball that makes me love it the most! Luckily we have a rec center in my town, so I still get to play! My husband and I play co-ed which is fun and this summer we are playing sand volleyball with another couple in town. We are pretty competitive, so it's fun to go out and play together. I also love taking pictures and looking at pictures. There's just something about capturing special memories that is so fun. I'm trying to do better about just enjoying moments a little more though too instead of taking pictures of every single little thing. It's kind of hard sometimes though! ;)

Alright, go link up with Latoya! I'm excited to read which row on the Tic-Tac-Toe board you choose! Also, just a reminder about my flash sale on TpT today (June 30th) only!! Everything is 20% off...read about that here

You can also enter for a chance to win free items from my store here and here! Today is the last day for each of these things, so don't wait!

Busy June Currently!

Monday, June 3, 2013
It's already June and I'm just now getting a free second to link up with Farley's Currently. Check out my currently below and then go link up for yourself (if you haven't already!).
Listening: I'm watching and listening to my guilty pleasure reality TV show, The Bachelorette! I really like Des and after last week, I must say I wasn't too excited about the guys. After the first date, I am hooked again! Haha! There might be a couple nice guys on this season after all! :)

Loving: If you've been reading for a while, you may know that my husband and I bought a house. We have been in our new house all day Saturday and all afternoon today painting! I am so in love with this house and our new paint job! We haven't actually closed on the house yet since we're still waiting on paper work to go through, but the builder is allowing us to go in and paint. Yay! Here's a sneak preview of the living room before and after.
Thinking: On Wednesday this week, my husband and I will be celebrating 3 years of marriage!! Time sure flies when you're having fun and with the one you love! He's the best and it's been a great three years. I can't wait for all the adventures we have ahead of us!
Wanting: I'm so anxious to start moving into our new house! We were supposed to close on our anniversary, but the appraisal was the hold up so the paper work with our loan hasn't come back yet. We had already lined up people to help us move this coming weekend, so we asked the builder if we could move in early and he was okay with it! Double YAY! :) We are so ready to get in there and start decorating it to make it OUR home!

Needing: Now the "bleh" part of moving....packing! We need to keep packing, but we've been so busy. I know what's on the list for this week though! Fun, fun! Our spare bedroom is going to be pretty full of boxes after the week is over.
3 Vacay Essentials:
1. My husband...of course, no vacation would be as fun without him there!
2. My camera...I LOVE taking pictures! Wayyy too many pictures probably, so my camera is a must!
3. My sunglasses...my eyes are super sensitive and when I think of summer vacations, I think of some place warm and sunny so I will definitely need my shades!

We usually try to take one or two vacations a summer since it's our time off together. Like last year we went on a road trip to St. Louis and Nashville and then on a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, but this year will probably be different due to our new house and the fact that our current house isn't sold yet (Crazy, I know!). I guess I'll just have to imagine we are back at the beach and keep praying our house will sell! Then maybe, just maybe I can talk my husband into (at least) a road trip somewhere! :)

Well thanks for ready this very "new house" heavy post...sorry it is just consuming my life right now! Now go link up so I can read about you currently!

Happy JUNE!!!

Currently in May...

Thursday, May 2, 2013
It's the beginning of a new month and the beginning of a new blog name, URL, and design! Goodbye to Kinder Krazy and welcome to Keepin' It Krazy with Mrs. Berns!!! I'm really excited about it even though I'm a wee bit nervous too! This was a project I originally wanted to wait for the summer to do, but I am very bad a waiting...obviously! :) So, what do you think about the new look! If you wouldn't mind helping me spread the word about the new name, I would greatly appreciate it!

I just finished listening to American Idol on my TV in the background. Man, there are some talented ladies on this season! I liked them all! I had to catch up on all of my Wednesday shows tonight because we had a very busy evening last night (keep reading!).

I am seriously loving my new blog name and design!! I created the design on my own and I love how it turned out! It was so much fun to do....well except for a few moans and groans trying to get things to work just right! :) I think everything is set up and ready now though! YAY!

I attended a boot camp this Tuesday that is held at my school in the evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays and boy oh boy am I getting more sore each day! Ouch! It was a killer of a workout and I'm glad I went, but I hate this part!

I am really wanting to sell our house because last night we signed our lives away on a new house!! I'm so excited about that part, but we are crossing our fingers and praying that our house will sell soon! We have many people looking at it and interested in it, but some of them have to sell before they can buy. I know it will all work out, but we hope it will be sooner rather than later for loan purposes....and our sanity! :-P

I'm desperately needing mother nature to make up it's mind!! I cannot recall a spring like the one we've had this year in Kansas. We'll have an 80 degree day and then the next day it's snowing...in MAY!!! I'm anxiously awaiting the day when the weather will remain constant...constantly warm that is!

Finally, my summer bucket list will be to move into our new house! I can't wait to decorate and make it our home! It will be so much fun! I'm not looking forward to the packing part though. This will be my first BIG move because all my other moves just involved my little things, but now we have all of our big and little things! :) Fun, fun! The next thing will be to convince my husband to take a trip this summer. I'm sure it's going to be a tough job this summer with all of the house stuff, but that doesn't mean I won't try! ;)

Well, I should be back tomorrow to blog about our week. We have a professional development day tomorrow and then just 3 weeks left until the last day of school. Wow! Where has the year gone?!

Go link up with Farley and join all of the fun! :)
